Common Name or Meaning Brown's Cyrtorchis

Flower Size 1" [2.5 cm]

Found in Ivory Coast, Sierra Leone, Central African Republic, Congo, Gabon, Zaire, Tanzania, Uganda and Malawi in evergreen forests at elevations of 1000 to 1500 meters as a small to medium sized, cool growing epiphyte with an erect stem carrying many,cyrtch 2 ranked, linear, leathery, unequally bilobed apically leaves that blooms in the fall on an axillary or below the leaves, 1.4 to 3.6" [3 to 9 cm] long, 5 to 12 flowered, racemose inflorescence

"This species may be recognised by the relatively short ligulate but flat and fleshy leaves and the very dense inflorescences with conspicuous broad more or less overlapping bracts. The flowers are small (sepals .36 to .56" [9 to 14 mm] long) with a slightly curved spur.8 to 1.2" [2 to 3 cm] in length." Summerhayes
