Common Name The Ornate Cyrtochilum

Flower Size .32" [8mm]

Found in Junin Peru at elevations around 2900 meters as a small sized, cold growing epiphyte with a short rhizome carrying close set, narrowly egg-shaped, somewhat laterally compressed pseudobulbs enveloped basally by several, distichous, overlapping, leaf bearing sheaths the upper most carrying a single, apical, thinly leathery, narrowly lanceolate, acute, narrowing below into the conduplicate, petiolate base leaf that blooms in the fall on a arching to suberect, to 8" [20 cm] long, peduncle to 4.8" [12 cm] long, the 3.2" [8 cm] long, rachis with 1 to 3 ascending, to 3 flowered branches as well as the apical racemose, to 8 flowered inflorescence carrying fragrant flowers.
