Pers comm. Stig Dalstrom: I placed ulopterum as a synonym of C angustatum in my synopsis because it looks like it in a dried state. The type specimen consists of two dried flowers in a not so good shape. We have later found it in Peru and it is a good species though. It was described again in the same year (1872) as “Odontoglossum stenochilum”, which becomes a synonym. I treated stenochilum as a distinct species for a while but realized later that it is the same as ulopterum. The type of stenochilum consists of a single dried flower. Synonyms Cyrtochilum stenochilum (Linden & Rchb.f.) Dalström 2002; Odontoglossum stenochilum Linden & Rchb.f. 1872; *Odontoglossum ulopterum Linden & Rchb.f. 1872
