Found in Venezuela and Colombia at elevations around 2450 to 2800 meters meters as a small to just medium sized, cold growing terrestrial or occasional lithophyte with lightly compressed, generally smooth, narrowly ovate pseudobulbs enveloped basally by 2 pairs of leafless and leaf-bearing sheaths and carrying 2, apical, strap-shaped, acute, keeled behind, sharply grooved and conduplicate becoming petiolate base leaves that blooms in the spring on an axillary, from the base through the leaf sheaths, suberect, to 98" [to 250 cm] long, peduncle to 40" [100 cm] long, paniculate, rachis to 60" [150 cm] long, many branched, each to 20" [50 cm] long with irregularily spaced, to 7 flowered, secondary branches along their lengths, many flowered inflorescence.
