A small sized, cold growing terrestrial occuring in Finland, Sweden France, Germany, Austria, Czech, Switzerland and Romania in full sun on damp to wet acidic substrates in peat bogs and damp alpine grasslands at elevations of 500 to 1200 meters with spindly, solid washed violet at tip stem carrying 3 to 5 ovoid-oblong, spathulate, weakly keeled and then flat leaves with the uppermost morphing to bract-like with the lower bracts being equal to the flowers length that blooms on a terminal, erect, 2 to 6" [5 to 15 cm] long, racemose densly many flowered inflorescence occuring in the summer.
