Common Name Urville's Dactylorhiza [French Sailor late 1700's to 1800's]

Found in Turkey and Iran in damp meadows, marshy depressions and flushed slopes at elevations up to 2700 meters as a small to just large sized, cold growing terrestrial with a solid to slightly hollow stem carrying 4 to 8, cauline, marked on upperside, near erect, oval-lanceolate leaves with the uppermost 1 to 2 being barct-like and blooming in the later spring and summer on an erect, 2 to 10" [5 to 25 cm] long, densely 10 to 90 flowered inflorescence with floral bracts that are often spotted and longer than the flowers.
