Found in Sulawesi and the Moluccas in coastal forests at elevations of sea level to 300 meters as a giant sized, hot growing epiphyte with erect, slightly basally swollen stems carrying in an elongate fan, flattened sideways, acute leaves that blooms in the winter and early spring on the bare upper part of the stem with many, short, successively 1 to 2 flowered inflorescence.
