Found in Sabah Borneo near Mt Kinabalu in lower mossy montane forests at elevations of 1200 to 2000 meters as a small sized, cool growing epiphyte with ovoid, narrowing towards the apex pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, erect, narrowly linear, obtuse, gradually narrowing below into the elongate, petiolate base leaf that blooms in the late summer and fall on a terminal, erect then arching, peduncle filiform, 3.2 to 6.6" [8 to 16.5 cm] long, provided with 1 to 2 ovate-elliptic, obtuse to acute bracts, rachis quadrangular, 2 to 3.6" [5 to 9 cm] long, subdensely to 40 flowered inflorescence with ovate, obtuse to subacute, longer than the ovary floral bracts and carrying strongly sweet scented flowers with pale yellow tepals, a pale yellow labellum with whitish margins, the keels and elevated midnerve bright salmon pink, the column is salmon pink, the apical hood and stelida are whitish, and the anther cap salmon pink. The flowers have also been described as greenish yellow with an orange and white labellum, flesh colored to salmon with 2 purple spots on the labellum.
