Found on Mindanao in the Philippines in mossy cloud forests hanging from tree trunks and branches covered with mosses in deep shade at elevations around 1600 meters as a large sized, cool growing epiphyte with basally cylindrical, barrlel shaped towards the middle and oblate above then tapering to the apex, branching stems carrying 3 t o15, thin-textured, glabrous, lanceolate, oblong-lanceolate to elliptic-lanceolate, susessile abse leaves taht blooms in the later fall on many short, axillary, sub-sessile, single flowered inflorescence ariosing on leafless canes with up to 3 flowers per node and 20 flowers per cane and to 62 flowers overall.

Similar to Dendrobium boosii Cootes & W. Suarez, and is separated from D derekcabuactulanii by its broadly flattened stelidia, presence of paired concave depressions on its column wings, saccate rostellum, bidentate-fimbriate anther cap margins, trilobed labellum, undulate lateral sides of the labellum, and the flower colour.
