Found in Sumatra in forests at elevations around 1525 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cool growing epiphyte with a short, branching rhizome giving rise to close set, ovoid pseudobulbs carrying a single, linear-lanceolate, acute, narrowing below into the grooved petiolate base leaf that blooms on a thin, peduncle to 2.2" [5.5 cm] long, arising on an almost mature pseudobulb, rachis sinuous, to 1.4" [3.5 cm] long, 15 top 17 flowered inflorescence carrying pale, flesh colored flowers.

Similar to D karoense but it has only 2 keels at the center of the lip, the stelids are obtuse and arise from near the column base. D carinatum has 4 keels on the lip, acute stelids and the arise from the apical half of the column.
