Found in Sumatra at elevations around 1000 meters as a small sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte with a short, branched, terete rhizome giving rise to close set, thin, terete, narrowing apically, pale opaque green pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, erect, lanceolate, acute, green above, some minute purple spotting beneath, channeled in to the petiolalte base leaf that blooms on a thin, , peduncle to 5.2" [13 cm] long, rachis, pendulous, more or less the same length as the peduncle, many flowered inflorescence.
J J Smith stated that D duplicibrachium was close to D simile but stands closer to D odoratum from which it differs by the flower color, the denticulate lip with 3 longitudinal keels and the shape of the column.
