Common Name The Hooked Dendrochilum [refers to the stelida of the column]

Found in western Borneo as a mini-miniature to miniature sized epiphyte with cylindrical, somewhat dilated towards the base pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, erect, linear-ligulate, acute, petiolate base leaf that blooms in the winter on an erect, peduncle .68 to 1.6" [1.7 to 4 cm] long, rachis 1.4 to 2.2" [3.5 to 5.5 cm] long, rather lax, 10 to 16 flowered inflorescence with narrowly triangular-ovate to elliptic, acute, very sparsely ramentaceous, shorter than the ovary floral bracts and carrying glabrous, wide open flowers.

Very similar to D pubescens as they share a similar habit, lip morphology and flwoer color but D hamatum hlacks the distinctive leaf and floral pubescence od D pubescens and has smaller flowers wqith more distinctly hamate stelida on the column.
