Found in Sabah Borneo in open, low, dry, stunted forestsand in very low, open podosol forests at elevations around 1300 to 1450 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cool growing epiphyte with ovoid to elliptic to oblong-cylindrical pseudubulbs carrying a single, apical, erect, very minutely black punctate-ramentaceous, particularly on the lower surface, narrowly elliptic, obtuse, minutely mucronate, margin minutely papillose, gradually narrowing below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the fall on an erect then arching, peduncle .5 to .8" [1.2 to 2 cm] long, filiform, rachis .6 to 1" [1.5 to 2.5 cm] long, quadrangular, sparsely ramentaceous, 5 to 8 flowered inflorescence with oblong-elliptic, acute, concave, sparsely ramentaceous , floral bracts.

Wood states that this orchid is similar to D dulitense but this one has broader, narrowly elliptic, very minutely black punctate-ramentaceous leaves, pale green flowers with an ocher lip, a distinctly smaller, narrower lip without an elevated median nerve and ligulate, acute stelida.
