Found in Sumatra at elevations around 360 meters as a medium sized, hot growing epiphyte with a short, creeping rhizome giving rise to cylindrical, terete pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, erect, linear-lanceolate, acute, gradually narrowing below intothe petiolate base leaf that blooms on a as long as the leaf or a little bit longer, arising with the leaves but before the pseudobulb, peduncle erect, rachis nodding, 10 to 11" [25 to 27.5 cm] long overall, 2 ranked, several flowered inflorescence with lanceolate, acute, as long as the ovary floral bracts.
Schlechter stated that this species was close to D simile but this one has 4 teeth on the column apical wing and entire stelids while D simile has a bilobed wing and a tooth on each stelid.
