Found in Sumatra at elevations around 1600 to 2200 meters as a small to medium sized, cool to cold growing epiphyte with narrowly conical, close set pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, erect, oblong-lanceolate, acute to bidentate, broad in the middle, gradually narrowing below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms on an erect, robust, to 16" 4 to 6" [40 cm] long, peduncel longer than the rachis, many flowered inflorescence with lanceolate, acute, boat-shaped floral bracts.
