Found in Sumatra in montane forests at elevations around 1300 to 1450 meters as a mini-miniature small sized, cool growing epiphyte with a freely branching rhizome close set, more or less terete pseudubulbs carrying a single, apical, erect, narrowly lanceolate, narrowing towards the apex, gradually narrowing below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms on as the pseudobulbs arise, peduncle thin, 2.6 to 5.4" [6 .5 to 13.5 cm] long, rachis flattened, to 2 to 4.8" [5 to 12 cm] long, many flowered inflorescence

J J Smith stated that this species was allied to D edentulum as they both have the bracts wrapping around the flower bases and the lips ate ventricose above the base.
