Found in the Mt. Kinabalu area of Borneo in upper montane forests at elevations of 2100 to 3700 meters as a small sized, cold growing lithophyte or terrestrial with an abbreviated, branching rhizome giving rise to close set, elongate, fusiform pseudobulbs enveloped basally by 3, ovate-elliptic, acute, slowly becoming fibrous cataphyls and carrying a single apical, erect, grasslike, acute leaf that blooms at most any time of the year on a terminal, erect, arching to pendent, peduncle slender, wiry, 1.8 to 6.4" [4.5 to 16 cm] long, provided with a single, ovate-elliptic, acute bract, rachis quadrangulr, 1 to 2.4" [2.5 to 6 cm] long, salmon pink, densely many flowered inflorescence ovate to ovate-elliptic, acute, salmon pink, longer than the ovary floral bracts and carrying flowers that do not open well with a faint, sweet, spicy scent.
