Common Name The Tomani Dendrobium [Bornean region of Sabah]

Flower Size .52 to .6" [1.3 to 1.5 cm] long

Found in Sabah Borneo in lower montane forests at elevations of 1000 to 1200 meters as a small sized, cool growing epiphyte with clustered, simple, fractiflex, erect stems carrying spreading, narrowly elliptic, acutely, unequally bilobed, dark brown hirsute on both sides leaves with dark brown hirsute sheaths that blooms in the late spring and earlysummer on a lateral, arising from the nodes opposite the leaves, peduncle and rachis .32 to .4" [.8 to 1 cm] long, to 4 flowered inflorescence with glabrous flowers.

"Allied to D metachilinum and D spathipetalum but is distinguished by the hirsute leaves, narrower, linear petals, and the flabellate mid-lobe of the lip. It is further distinguished from D metachilinum by the triangular, acute free portion of the lip side lobes and the three short keels at the apex of the central band on the disc. From D sapthipetalum it is further separated by the three keeled, fleshy band on the disc." Wood 2014
