Found in Venezuela, Colombia and Ecuador at elevations of 2200 to 2400 meters as a small sized, cold growing epiphyte with a stem enveloped by distichous, imbricating, leaf sheath bases carrying non-deciduous, reflexed, triangular-ovate, acute, leathery leaves that blooms on an axillary, short, single flowered inflorescence with a setose hairy ovary and carrying dirty white flowers with a violet lip.

Distinguished by the persistent leaves, the muricate ovary, the leaves with ciliate margins only near the apex, the leaves wothout apparent cross-veins, the acuminate sepals and the ligule bifid at the apex.
