Common Name The Purple Dipodium

Flower Size 1.36 to 2" [3.4 to 5 cm]

Found in Borneo at elevations of 50 to 1250 meters as a giant sized, hot to cool growing terrestrial or climbing/scrambling herb with monopodial, leafy stems carrying spreading to arching, strap-shaped, canaliculate, gradually flattening and tapering to the acute apex, 3 main ribs, green leaves with overlapping, suberect, wider than the leaf, green, persistent sheaths that blooms st most any time of the year on 1 to 5, suberect to arching to drooping under the weight of the flowers, shorter to longer than the leaves, peduncle 2.4 to 7.2" [6 to 18 cm] long, provided with 3 to 4, distant scales, rachis [6 to 27 cm] long, loose to crowded, 7 to 15 flowered inflorescence with clasping, ovate, obtuse, much shorter than the ovary floral bracts and carrying outward facing, large, non-fragrant flowers.
