Found in Cape Province, Lesotho and Orange Free State in grasslands in full sun at elevations of 1000 to 2000 meters as a small to medium sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial with radical, hysteranthous, linear leaves that blooms in the summer on a cylindrical, 8 to 24" [20 to 60 cm] long, several to numerous flowered inflorescence carrying spicily fragrant flowers
