Found in Rwanda, Burundi, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Malawi and Zambia in dense shade of lower montane evergreen forests mostly on low, heavily mossy branches low to ground at elevations of 2100 to 2700 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cool to cold growing epiphyte or terrestrial with underground tubers giving rise to 2, alternate, codate, basally sheathed leaves that blooms on a short, erect, single flowered inflorescence arising from a leaf-like bract.
