Found in Bocas del Toro province of Panama on the western slopes at elevations of 1800 to 2800 meters as a small sized, cool to cold growing, caespitose epiphyte with erect, slender ramicauls enveloped by 2 to 3, loose, tubular sheaths and carrying a single, erect, coriaceous, carinate, narrowly linear-obovate, acute, gradually narrowing below into the indistinct, conduplicate petiolate base leaf that blooms in the fall on a horizontal, arising from low on the ramicaul, 4.8 to 5.6" " [12 to 14 cm] long, loose, successively few flowered inflorescence with a tubular, shorter than the pedicel floral bract.
"Characterized by the narrow leaves anda small cupped flower that occurs both pure white and white with purple suffusion above the middle. The sepals are densely long-pubescent within. The lip is small and thick with the hypochile slightly larger than the epichile. The epichile is short and shallowly concave between three irregular carinae, the cleft of the hypochile is proportionally large." Luer 1993
