Common Name The Shining Drakaea - In Australia The Warty Hammer Orchid

Flower Size 1 to 1.6" [2.5 to 4 cm]

Found in southwest Western Australia in Jarrah and coastal scrub at elevations of 30 to 300 meters as a small to medium sized, cold growing terrestrial with a very slender, glabrous, green above purple and wiry below stem with a small clasping bract well below the middle and carrying a single, dark green, hairless, roundly ovate, somewhat reniform, acute, pale greyish green marked with red brown mostly along the margins leaf that blooms in the late winter and early spring on an erect, 6 to 16" [15 to 40 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence.
