Common Name The Bur Shaped Echinosepala

Flower Size .4" [1 cm]

Found in Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Colombia, Venezuela and Ecuador at elevations of 300 to 1700 meters as a mini-miniature sized, hot to cool growing, shortly repent epiphyte with erect stout ramicauls enveloped by 3 loose, imbricating., tubular sheayths and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, narrowly ovate, acute, cuneate below into the conduplicate, sessile base leaf that blooms in the spring and summer on a single, arising from any of the lower nodes on the ramicaul and rhizome, .15" [3 mm] long, pubescent inflorescence with inflated, longer than the ovary floral bracts and carrying non-resupinate, pubescent flowers.

"The dark purple , hairy flower faces downward with the tip of the narrow middle sepal adherent with the apex of the synsepal, thus dividing the entrance to the interior into 2 apertures. The sepals are rugose-verrucose within." Luer 1992
