Found in Costa Rica in very wet premontane forests at elevations around 1150 meters as a large sized, cool growing terrestrial with an erect leafy stem carrying elliptic-lanceolate, acuminate, plicate, 7 prominently veined leaves that blooms in the summer on a terminal, capitate, lower bracts green, upper pale brownish pink, successively few, many flowered inflorescence with oblong, acute floral bracts.
