Found in the Leeward and Windward Islands of the Caribbean at elevations of 500 to 1050 meters as a large sized, warm growing epiphyte or terrestrial with erect canes carrying alternate, membranaceous, plicate, broadly lanceolate, long-acuminate, tapering below into the base leaves that blooms in the spring on an erect, distally densely sheathed, terminating in a short, conical to cylindric, compact, many flowered inflorescence
