Found in Costa Rica and Panama at elevations around 1500 to 3000 meters as a large sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial with an erect, branching, leafy stem carrying erect-patent, lanceolate, acuminate, plicate, glabrous, glaucous leaves that blooms in the fall on a terminal, erect, capitate, 1.2" [3 cm] long, densely many flowered inflorescence with broadly ovate-lanceolate, acuminate, 5 times longer than the ovary floral bracts.
"Separated from other large plants with large leaves by the crenulate margins of the lip and relatively small corpuscules towards the base which are globose and approximate.
