Common Name Killip's Elleanthus [Ellsworth Paine Killip American Botanist (September 2, 1890 – November 21, 1968]

Found in Valle de Cauca department of Colombia in coastal thickets at elevations around 10 meters as a large sized, hot growing orchid with unbranched leafy stems carrying lanceolate, acuminate apex, cuneate below into the base leaves that blooms on a terminal, capitate, sessile, 1" [2.5 cm] long, densely several flowered inflorescence with ovate-lanceolate, acumniate, twice longer than the ovary floral bracts and carrying purple colored flowers.
