Common Name The Lax Leaved Elleanthus

Flower Size .24" [6 mm]

Found in Cajamarca department of Peru at elevations of 2400 to 2500 meters as a large sized, cold growing terrestrial with simple, slender, laxly few leaved apically stems carrying lanceolate, acuminate, tridenticulate apically leaves that blooms on a shortly pedunculate, cylindric, to 3.4" [8 cm] long, densely many flowered inflorescence with ovate, acuminate, imbricate, lower ones surpassing the flower floral bracts.

"Similar in some respects to E smithii but E laxifoliatus has the leaves twice smaller and a similar twice shorter inflorescence and the lip of E laxifoliatus is smaller with calli decurrnet in front onto the disc. The corpuscules of E smithii are rounded and usually not decurrent onto the disc." Szlatchetko & Kolanowska 2023
