Common Name The Meager Elleanthus

Flower Size

Found in Ecuador without locational data a medium sized, hot growing terrestrial with erect, simple, delicate stems carrying 2 to 4, towards the apex, glaberous, lanceolate, narrowly lanceolate to linear-lanceolate, tridentate, cuneate below into the base leaves that blooms on a terminal, erect, to 3.2" 8 cm] long, rachis flexuous, glabrous, loosely 4 to 7 flowered inflorescence with lanceolate, acuminate sparsely black spotted, longer than the flowers floral bracts.

Similar to and often placed as a synonym of E lancifolius but it has a distinctly smaller lip and there is no thickening on the disc as in E lancifolius. The petals are distinct in being linear-obtuse and rounded while E lancifolius are linear-spathulate and acute. Differing as well in the oblong-obovoid, centrally inserted calli on the basal portion of the lip versus in E lancifolius they are lenticular and laterally inserted." Szlatchetko & Kolanowska 2023
