Common Name The Malphighiaceae Like Flower Elleanthus

Flower Size .8" [2 cm]

Found in Venezuela and northern Brazil in cloud forests at elevations arounds 2300 to 2400 meters as a large sized, cold growing epiphyte with much branching, slender, rigid, few leaved at the apex of each short branch, erect stems carrying to 8, lighly plicate, thin but rigid, somewhat tapering apically leaves that blooms on a terminal, peduncle short, rachis strongly fractiflex, few flowered inflorescence with long, narrow, , prominent and very persistent floral bracts and carrying relatively large and showy flowers.

Similar to E confusus but differs in the perpendicular inflorescence, the entire lip, the petals with lacerate-fimbiate margins in the apical third.
