Common Name The Very Bristley Elleanthus [refers to the fringed lip]

Found in Bolivia in montane cloud forests at elevations around 2900 meters as a medium sized, cold growing, caespitose epiphyte with erect, terete, dark purple stems carrying plicate, coriaceous, elliptic-lanceolate, attenuate towards the apex, basally clasping leaves that blooms in the spring on a terminal, strobiliform, several to amny flowerred inflorescence with prominent, red, margins lightly incurved and erose, longer than the flowers floral bracts and carrying white flowers with a purple anther.
"Characterized by funnel shaped leaf sheath, coriaceous leaves, relatively small lip that is more or less canaliculated with erose-fimbriate apical margin and approximate corpuscles."
