Common Name or Meaning The allemanii-Like Encyclia [Refers to Encyclia allemanii, named for a Brazilian botanist late 1800's]

Found in Brazil in the states of Espiritu Santo, Minas Gerais and Sao Paulo at elevations around 500 to 1100 meters as a small to medium sized, cool to warm growing epiphyte with sheathed psuedobulbs carrying 2 to 3, intense green, apical leaves that blooms in the winter on a densely many flowered inflorescence that has successive opening, non resupinate flowers. This species has also been described as Epidendrum X allemanoides Hoehne 1934 alluding to it being a natural hybrid betweeen E allemanii and E bulbosa. As yet it has not been proven.
