Common Name The Green & White Encyclia

Flower Size 1 1/4" [3.1 cm]

Found in the Guianas, Brazil, Venezuela, Meta department of Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia in wet montane rainforests at altitudes of 50 to 1300 meters as a small sized, hot to cool growing epiphytic species from the with fusiform to ovoid, mostly bifoliate, rugose pseudobulbs partially enveloped below by scarious sheaths and carrying 2 to 3, apical, narrowly oblong-lorate, obtuse to shortly acute, coriaceous, glossy, basally clasping leaves that blooms in the late summer and fall on an apical, to 12" [30 cm] long, simple, racemose, loosely few flowered inflorescence with fragrant, waxy, long-lasting flowers subtended by a scarious sheath arising on a mature, pseudobulb with leaves that clasp the inflorescence.

Similar to Encyclia naranjapatensis and Encyclia oncidioides but differs in the lip callus not flanked by additional ridges. and the lip is wider than long and the middle lobe is shortly acuminate at the apex. Several references put this species as a synonym of Encyclia amanda
