Found in the Chapada Diamantina in Bahia state of Brazil at elevations around 600 meters as a medium sized, warm growing epiphyte with pyriform-elongate, smooth becoming rugose with age pseudobulbs enveloped basally by scarious sheaths and carrying 2, rigid, coriaceous, oblong, acuminate leaves that blooms in the late spring in situ on a terminal, to 28" [70 cm] long, simultaneously many flowered inflorescence .
