Found in Minas Gerais state of Brazil in dry well lit forests at elevations around 500 meters as a medium sized, warm growing epiphyte and natural hybrid between E fowliei and E kundergraberi with a short rhizome giving rise to pyriform, initially smooth becoming somewhat rugose with age pseudobulbs carrying 1 to 2, apical, rigid, coriaceous, linear, acuminate leaves trhat blooms in the late winter and early spring on a terminal, erect, paniculate, to 28" [70 cm] long, simultaneously many flowered inflorescence
