Common Name or Meaning The Para State Encyclia [A state In Brazil]

Found in Para' state of northern Brazil in open Amazonian Forests at elevations of 50 to 400 meters as a small sized, hot growing epiphyte with ovate, green pseudobulbs enveloped in youth by deciduous, imbricating sheaths and carrying 1 to 2, apical, coriaceous, smooth, oblanceolate, subacute, gradually narrowing below into the clasping base leaves that blooms in the fall on a terminal, erect, to 7" [17.5 cm] long, to 5 flowered inflorescence with triangular, shorter than the pedicel floral bracts.
The plant is similar to E pachyantha but 1/4 the size, the sepals and petals are longer, the petals are more orbicular and the margins are smooth vs wavy margined petals with a more acute apex. The lip has narroer lateral lobes with a rounded apex vs wider and with a truncate apex. The winged column is broader and oriented upwards vs directed downward and the anther has a square apicule vs bifurcate in E pachyantha. Also similar to E remotiflora but it has a single leaf a longer inflorescence and well spaced flowers.
