Found in the Mantiqueira Rain Forest Mountains of Minas Gerais, Espirito Santo and Sao Paulo states of Brazil at elevations around 1000 to 1500 meters as a medium [45 cm] sized, cool growing epiphyte or terrestrial on high mountain ridges beneath scrub in coarse grasses with a drooping cane-like stem enveloped by leaf bearing sheaths with the lower third being deciduous and carrying deep, green, lanceolate leaves that blooms in the late spring and summer on a terminal, 2" [5 cm] long, 7 to 12 flowered inflorescence carrying fragrant flowers
