Common Name The Concave Lip Epidendrum

Found in Costa Rica in tropical wet forests at e;levations of 700 to 800 meters as a small sized, warm growing epiphyte with a stem completely enveloped by imbricating, complanate sheaths and carrying to 5, all along the stem, fleshy, oblong-elliptic, distichous and widely spreading, rounded and bilobed apically leaves that blooms in the fall on a terminal, on a mature stem, to 4.2" [10.5 cm] long including the 1.4" [3.5 cm] long peduncle mostly enveloped by a single, carinate spathe, rachis, successively 5 to 6 flowered inflorescence with equitant, ovate when spread, deeply carinate floral bracts.
