Common Name The Long-Creeping Epigeneium
Flower Size .8" [2 cm]
Found in Sabah and Sarawak, Borneo in lower to upper montane forests at elevations of 900 to 2100 as a miniature sized, warm to cold growing epiphyte with a long creeping rhizome enveloped by imbricate, scarious, brown to reddish brown sheaths with 3/4 to 1.2" [2 to 3 cm] between each purple edged, narrowly pyriform, sometimes fusiform, obliquely reclining, sulcate to rugose pseudobulbs enveloped by sheaths when young and carrying a single, apical, erect, oblong-ligulate, subsessile, obtuse apically, minutely bilobed, rigid, leathery leaves that blooms at most any time of the year on a single flowered, short, terminal infloresence.
CAUTION!!!!!! . The second determination does not conform with the references so use with caution. The colors are wrong although a minor concern, the more important issue is the lip with the elongate thicker apical lobe and the narrowly folded mid lobes, lower and smoother then humped mid lip. All references show the color as ruby red to purple red and the apex of the lip much lower than the wave like mid lip callus that is broader across. It may just be a species variation but it is different to my references.
