Found in Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras and Nicaragua in elfin and cloud forests at elevations of 1400 to 1650 meters as a medium to giant sized, cool growing epiphyte with erect, branching stems producing new stems from the internodes below the leaves of the previous stem and carrying 3 to 5, coriaceous, distichous towards the apex, conduplicate below into the base leaves that blooms in the winter on a terminal, racemose, arching, many flowered inflorescence
