Found in Portugal, Spain, France and Switzerland in forests near streams, watercourses and seepage areas in shade at elevations up to 1600 meters as medium sized, cold growing terrestrial with spindly to sturdy, whitish green, sparsely hairy stems carrying 3 to 7, shiny green, in 2 opposite rows, rather soft, channeled to almost flat, spreading to near erect, ovate-acuminate to lanceolate, thje 1st leaf almost 10" [25 cm] up the stem, gently undulate margined leaves that blooms in the late spring and early summer on a terminal, erect, almost one sided, 5 to 30 flowered inflorescence
