Common Name The Ribbed Spike Epidendrum

Found in Ecuador and Cajamarca departments of Peru on the Cordillera de Tabaconas at elevations around 2200 meters as a giant sized, cold growing terrestrial with a cane-like, straight, simple to few branched, terete, leafy stem carrying spreading to sub-recurved, linear to linear-ligulate, acute, narrowing towards the base leaves that blooms in the fall on a lateral, from the leaf axils, sessile, shortly sub-corymbose, 6 to 8 flowered inflorescence with small, much shorter than the ovary floral bracts and carrying sulphur colored, glabrous flowers.
