Found in Costa Rica as a small sized epiphyte with an erect, simple, cane-like stem carrying 2 to 4 towards the apex, narrowly elliptic, acute leaves that blooms on a terminal, nutant arching, few flowered inflorescence with simultaneously opening flowers.

Hagsater in 2007 put this species as a synonym of E barbae, but as yet it has not been accepted by Kew.
