Found in Vaupes Colombia in quartzitic savannahs at elevations of 100 to 400 meters growing over low scrub as a weedy, giant sized, hot growing terrestrial with thickly rigid, lanceolate-ovate, acuminate pointed, margin entire, glabrous on both sides, more or less 12 nerved, aplexicaul-cordate below into the sessile base leaves that grade smaller above that blooms in the fall on a terminal, to more or less 28 [70 cm] long, 15 to 20 flowered inflorescence with thick, triangular to ovate, acuminate, very acute bracts .
