Found in Huanuco Peru without locational data as an erect, saxicolous terrestrial with an erect branching stem carrying alternate, cordate, sessile, amplexicaul, coriaceous leaves that blooms on a terminal, racemose, successively single, few flowered inflorescence subtended by a bract and carrying large, showy flowers with purple sepals and petals and a darker puprle lip.
This species is close to E lamprophyllum, E brevicristatum and E laxiflorum but differs from the first 2 species mainly in the non-retrose scales, and the last species by the general size and color of the flower which is darker and larger in E chironii and the wider leaves.
