This species is a warm to cold growing epiphyte from open pine-oak forests or in humid woods at an altitude up to 2500m in Mexico, Guatemala and Costa Rica. It has non-fragrant flowers that occur in the fall and winter on an erect, to 1 1/2" long, few to several flowered, racemose, occasionally branched, inflorescence with longlasting flowers, and is an evergreen that requires a dry winter rest.
