Found in Yunnan province of China and northern Vietnam in dense forests at elevations around 1100 meters as a small sized, cool growing epiphyte with a short, flexuous sparsely pubescent rhizome giving rise to close set, cylindric pseudobulbs carrying 2, apical, oblong-oblanceolate, nearly leathery when dried, 9 main veined, subacute leaves that blooms in the late summer and earlier fall on a terminal, 6 to 7.6" [15 to 19 cm] long, laxly 3 to 10 flowered inflorescence with lanceolate floral bracts.
