Found in northeastern India, Bhutan, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam in open forests or in forests margins on tree trunks at elevations around 1200 to 1700 meters as a medium to large sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte or lithophyte with sulcate, globose pseudobulbs enveloped basally by fibrous sheaths and carrying 1 to 3, plicate, 3 to 5 nerved, lanceolate, acute to acuminate, gradually narrowing below into the petiolate base leaves that blooms in the fall and winter on a basal, erect, laxly 9 flowered, narrowing from broad base, pubescent, slender, weakly fractiflex, to 32" [to 80 cm] long, racemose inflorescence with pubescent, lanceolate, acute floral bracts and carrying fragrant flowers
